Perception is your environmental awareness and "sixth sense" and let's you receive ambush warnings at 8 Perception. It also affects weapon accuracy in V.A.T.S.

Master Thief[]

Rank Level Description
1 0 Your quick hands and sticky fingers make picking pockets easier. You gain +5 Lockpicking Skill per rank, and can now disarm Basic Traps.
2 7 You can now pickpocket heavier and more valuable items. You gain +10 Explosives Skill, and can also place a live grenade in a person's inventory.
3 14 You can now pickpocket moderately heavy and valuable items. You now have +15 Lockpicking Skill.
4 21 You can now pickpocket very heavy and valuable items. You now have +20 Lockpicking Skill.

Pickpocketing in Horizon is changed so that it's actually useful yet not unrealistic/overpowered.

  • Instead of always have a max of 90% chance of success, you can actually reach 100% now. This allows you to not be scared of turning the whole town on you, and making you feel like you need to reload your save.
  • Your Pickpocketing chance is (mostly) binary, which means either you can steal something guaranteed, or not at all
  • Pickpocketing can no longer loot equipped items or fusion cores (sorry but that was stupid as hell, and exploitable).

Rifleman[]

Rank Level Description
1 0 Ballistic Rifles and Machine Guns gain +10% Range, and +5% VATS Hit Chance. (Includes Miniguns.) (Does NOT include Shotguns or Gauss Weapons.)
2 5 Ballistic Rifles now gain +20% Range, and +10% VATS Hit Chance. (Includes Miniguns.) (Does NOT include Shotguns or Gauss Weapons.)
3 15 Unlocks the Ranger Specialization. Ballistic Rifles gain +30% Range. (Includes Miniguns.) (Does NOT include Shotguns or Gauss Weapons.)
4 40 If you have the Ranger specialization, non-automatic unscoped Ballistic Rifles now gain another +5% Critical Hit Chance. (Does NOT include Shotguns or Gauss Weapons.)

Awareness[]

Rank Level Description
1 0 Learn from your enemy's mistakes. For every point of Perception, you gain +3% XP per kill in combat (up to +30% XP maximum.) You can now receive ambush warnings without requiring 8 Perception.
2 10 The cooldown on the V.A.T.S. Overdrive Module is reduced by 2 minutes.

Locksmith[]

Rank Level Description
1 0 You gain +20 Lockpicking Skill per rank. (20 Lockpicking Skill allows you to pick Advanced locks.)
2 2 You now have +40 Lockpicking Skill. (40 Lockpicking Skill allows you to pick Expert locks.)
3 3 You now have +60 Lockpicking Skill. (60 Lockpicking Skill allows you to pick Master locks.)
4 10 You now have +80 Lockpicking Skill.
5 20 You now have +100 Lockpicking Skill.

Demolition Expert[]

Rank Level Description
1 0 Boom! You gain +20 Explosives Skill. You can now disarm Basic Mines.
2 5 You now have +40 Explosives Skill.
3 10 Unlocks the Demolitionist Specialization. You now have +60 Explosives Skill.
4 20 You now have +80 Explosives Skill. Your explosives now deal +15% Limb Damage and effect a 15% larger radius.
5 30 You now have +100 Explosives Skill. Your explosives now deal +30% Limb Damage and effect a 30% larger radius.

Night Person[]

Rank Level Description
1 1 You are a creature of the night! Gain +2 to Intelligence and Perception between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
2 12 You now have +3 to Intelligence and Perception between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., and night vision when sneaking.

Technologist[]

Rank Level Description
1 0 You gain +20 Salvaging Skill and +5 Engineering Skill. Salvaging Skill allows you to salvage objects in the world, and increases your chance to harvest parts from robots and synths.
5 5 You now have +40 Salvaging Skill and +10 Engineering Skill. Items with favorited components are highlighted (+1 Highlight Range.)
10 10 You now have +60 Salvaging Skill and +15 Engineering Skill. Items with favorited components are highlighted (+2 Highlight Range.)

Sniper[]

Rank Level Description
1 5 Non-automatic scoped weapons have a 5% chance to stagger valid targets when hit, and also gain +5% accuracy to head shots in V.A.T.S.
2 10 Non-automatic scoped weapons have a 10% chance to stagger valid targets when hit, and also gain +10% accuracy to head shots in V.A.T.S.
3 15 Unlocks the Sharpshooter Specialization. Non-automatic scoped weapons have a 15% chance to stagger valid targets when hit.
4 40 If you have the Sharpshooter specialization, you now gain an additional +10% damage to Sharpshooter's damage.

Deadeye[]

Rank Level Description
1 0 Ranged Firearms and Energy Weapons deal +10% Sneak Attack Damage. In V.A.T.S. you gain +5% chance to hit any target, on any body part.
2 20 Ranged Firearms and Energy Weapons deal +20% Sneak Attack Damage. In V.A.T.S. you gain +10% chance to hit any target, on any body part.

Hitman[]

Rank Level Description
1 20 Ranged firearms and energy weapons deal +30% damage to targets under 40% health. In V.A.T.S. every attack on the same body part gains +5% accuracy.

Technical Issues[]
